History and collections

The Library of the Faculty of Modern Languages at the University of Warsaw (BWN UW) has been operating since October 3, 2022. It was created by merging the libraries that operated within the individual units of the Faculty of Modern Languages.

We collect and provide access to books, journals, and other materials in languages such as:

  • English,
  • Estonian,
  • Finnish,
  • French,
  • Spanish,
  • Dutch,
  • German,
  • Portuguese,
  • Hungarian,
  • and Italian.

We also offer Polish-language publications on the above languages, as well as the history and culture of the countries and regions where these languages are spoken.

The BWN collection includes both academic and literary works. The collection includes publications in the fields of literary studies, linguistics, translation studies, and foreign language teaching, among others.

New and popular titles in the book collection can be found on our Goodreads profile.
