The BWN collections consist of books, periodicals, and other materials in the fields of English, Germanic, Romance, Iberian, Italian, and Finno-Ugric philologies. We collect and provide access to publications on the languages taught at our Faculty, as well as on the history and culture of the countries and regions where these languages are spoken.
Frequently asked questions
We are usually open Monday through Friday from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. Opening hours may change on days without classes. Any changes will be announced in the News section, on the Facebook page, and on the BWN door.
Most of our collections are stored in the closed stacks and must be ordered online through the UW Libraries Catalogue. Others are available immediately in the BWN Reading Room (some of them, marked as wolny dostęp = open access, can be borrowed).
It depends on when you order. We process orders hourly, usually between 10 am and 5 pm on weekdays. Orders are typically processed within 15–30 minutes.
You can collect your order from the BWN Circulation Desk within 5 business days. After that time, the materials will be returned to our closed stacks.
It depends on the reader’s category (check out the loan limits). For example, students of our University can borrow books for 30 days. If there are no obstacles, the loan period can be extended (until the date specified in your library account).
