If you have an active library account, you can borrow items for use outside of the BWN:
- books from the Reading Room that are marked as wolny dostęp (open stacks);
- books from the Reading Room which are located on display shelves behind the Circulation Desk and in the windows;
- books from the closed stacks which are listed as Loanable in the online catalogue;
- CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays of the Iberian studies and Finno-Ugric studies sections.
The items listed above can be borrowed from the Reading Room without prior ordering.
Books from the closed stacks must be ordered and reserved via the University of Warsaw Library Catalogue.
Books from the Finno-Ugric card catalogue should be ordered from the BWN Circulation Desk. If you require them urgently, you can view them on site. To borrow them out of the BWN, you must wait about a week for their cataloguing.
CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays of the Iberian and Finno-Ugric sections should be ordered at the BWN Circulation Desk (more information here).
Order waiting time: approximately 1 hour. Last orders are processed one hour before the BWN closes, which is usually 5 pm. Orders placed just before this time will be available for collection the next working day.
Order collection and reservation period: up to 5 working days.
After registering your loan, please check the status of your library account and report any comments to us at biblioteka.wn@uw.edu.pl.
Loan limits:
- bachelor’s and master’s degree students – 10 books for 30 days;
- PhD students – 20 books for 90 days;
- University of Warsaw employees – 20 books for 180 days;
- graduates, Alumni Club, and BiblioWawa – 3 books for 30 days;
- University of Warsaw libraries – 20 books for 30 days;
- Warsaw libraries – 10 books for 30 days.
Items not available for loan outside of the BWN:
- books from the Reading Room that are marked as Czytelnia BWN, Czyt. BWN or CBWN (BWN Reading Room);
- books from the closed stacks which are listed as Not loanable in the online catalogue;
- periodicals;
- CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays from the English and Germanic studies sections (more information here);
- diploma theses;
- board games.
